School For Poetic Computation | 2015

Curation
Event

School for Poetic Computation (SFPC) is an artist run school based in New York. It’s a hybrid of a school, residency and research group. Each year a small group of students and faculty work closely to explore the intersections of code, design, hardware and theory — focusing especially on artistic intervention.

SFPC-Summer-2015After attending SFPC as a student in Fall 2014 I have worked as a curator with the school to organize the student showcases at the end of each semester.

DSC_1575I help artists show their best work and create an environment that is less impressed with the final result of the ‘thing’ and more supportive of the process, learnings and questions around creating the thing. The school’s motto is “more poetry, less demo” and the showcase is equal parts exhibit and party.
The SFPC showcase allows students an opportunity to introduce themselves and their passions to the creative technology community ultimately building connections that will persist after their session ends.
